04 vernonia’s voice welcome july 2008 VERNONIA’S from the editor.... As I mention in “An Opinion” column this month, there are a lot of changes taking place in Vernonia. Vernonia’s Voice will also be undergoing some changes. After re- cently passing our one year milestone, Evangeline (Evan) Doyle, Co- Publisher and Editor, has decided to leave Vernonia’s Voice. Evan will be focusing her time on building her business “On Madison Stu- dio” which will continue to provide layout and design for the paper. Evan, so instrumental in founding this publication, felt the need to produce a paper that would be a positive voice in the community and a marketing tool for all Vernonia had to offer. Evan’s photography talents, her computer knowledge, her editing and writing skills, her connection to this community from growing up here, and her desire to see Vernonia grow and thrive have pushed this publication and al- lowed it to truly reflect “the spirit of our community.” Evan was instrumental in creating the look, the feel, the mood, and the energy that has made Vernonia’s Voice a success. Her original concepts and ideas were the foundation upon which we have together built a new voice here in Vernonia- a voice that talks about the good stories and events that are happening, about what is positive, and about why we all love this place so much. Together and separately, we have learned about Vernonia, about its people, its events, its character, its grit and determination, its history, and mostly its uniqueness- which we have tried to share in our stories and in these pages.
