Blues’ fest April 27
The 8th Annual Inner City Blues
Festival, “Healing the Healthcare
Blues,” returns April 27 to the North
Portland Eagles Lodge, 7611 N. Ex-
eter. Doors open at 5 p.m. and mu-
sic runs until 11 p.m. The Blues Fes-
tival is a fundraiser for Health Care
for All Oregon (HCAO), an organ-
ization working to educate Orego-
nians and advocate for universal,
publicly-funded health care. In ad-
dition to music, there will be a
silent auction, two bars, dinner and
dessert for purchase, as well as a
community village. Admission is

Celebrate labor history
in Portland May 3-5
The 51st annual conference of the
Pacific Northwest Labor History As-
sociation will be held in Portland
May 3-5. This year’s event high-
lights the centennial of the historic
Seattle and Winnipeg general
strikes. It kicks off Friday with a la-
bor history field trip for students.
Opening night will feature the exclu-
sive American showing of a trailer
from the new musical Stand!, a film
about the 1919 Winnipeg General
Strike. An Awards Banquet on Sat-
urday will honor 2019 PNLHA His-
