Established in 1900 in Portland, Oregon as a voice of the la-
bor movement. Published on a semi-monthly basis on the
first and third Fridays of each month by the Oregon Labor
Press Publishing Co. Inc., a non-profit mutual benefit corpo-
ration owned by 20 unions and councils including the Ore-
gon AFL-CIO. Serving more than 120 union organizations in

Management-run Oscars is Hol-
lywood-only and covers lots of
categories. But actors themselves
have their own annual event, or-
ganized by their union SAG-AF-
TRA, giving out 13 awards for
outstanding performances in film
and television. Presented live in
a two-hour televised ceremony,
the awards honor both individual
performances and the team work
of entire casts. Winners are deter-
mined by fellow SAG-AFTRA
members — more than 160,000
actors, broadcast journalists,
stunt performers, voiceover
artists and other professionals.
This year’s ceremony, on Jan.
21, will be hosted by Kristen
Bell, with awards presented by
Halle Berry, Dakota Fanning,
Lupita Nyong’o, Emma Stone
and Kelly Marie Tran. The nom-
inees are:
