Joe Hill Night celebration slated Nov. 19 in Portland A Joe Hill Night Celebration, “Fanning the Flames of Discontent,” will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Star E Rose Cafe, 2403 NE Alberta St., Portland. Union members have been cele- brating Joe Hill Night as a Portland tradition since 1990. Hill, an organizer for the Indus- trial Workers of the World (IWW) was framed on a murder charge and executed by a firing squad in Salt Lake City, Utah on Nov. 19, 1915. Some of his last words echo today, “Don’t mourn for me, Organize!” Music will be performed by Gen- eral Strike and I Wobble Wobble. The suggested donation is $5 to $20.
