Also re- elected to a third term as president K EVIN J ENSEN and business agent was Jim Pauley. Pauley and Joe Bowers were the top two vote-get- ters in a three-per- son race for busi- ness agents. Thom- mye Dew finished J IM P AULEY third. Pauley ran unopposed for president; Jensen was unopposed for his post; and Bowers was the lone candidate for vice president and District Council delegate. Others re-elected were Robert Ca- marillo, Examining Committee/District Council delegate; Kevin Soto, record- ing secretary; and Michael Newton, sergeant-at-arms/Executive Commit- tee/Examining Committee. Joining Newton on the Executive Committee are Shane Nehls, Kevin Crocker and Neal Ryan. Robert Stoecklein also was elected to the Examining Committee. Trustees elected were Trini Iglesias, Steve Mahoney and John Winters. Joseph Fields and Pauley also were elected to the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. Elections for all union offices were held Dec. 2. All terms are for three years. National Labor Relations Board Re- gional Director Rich Ahearn and Ore- gon Employment Relations Board Chair Paul Gamson will will give up- dates of what is new — new case deci- sions etc — at the NLRB and ERB. “The conference is always worth at- tending because the law keeps chang- ing,” said Norm Malbin, general coun- sel of Local 48 and program coordina- tor. “The goal is to provide training to help officers and staff of unions serve their members better.” Participation is limited to 260 and is on a first-come, first-served basis. The Oregon AFL-CIO will hold a legislative conference for unions from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Sheet Metal Training Center, 2379 NE 178th Ave., Portland. The conference is an opportunity for union leaders and active members to discuss the many challenges lawmak- ers face — an enormous budget short- fall, continuing high unemployment, and an evenly divided Oregon House. The conference will review organ- ized labor’s priorities for the session and explore opportunities and strate- gies, as well as meet and talk with la- bor-friendly legislators and elected of- ficials. Gov. John Kitzhaber has been invited. Registration is $25 and covers tu- ition and materials, lunch, and refresh- ments. Registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 28.
