2009 Entertainment 15 Exciting new television shows airing this fall D anny M c G arry The start of fall also brings a new season of TV shows — everything from a not-somormal glee club to a dysfunctional office. This season of fall shows is bound to be interesting. Starting on ABC, a new show called "Modern Family" is one of the many new comedies for Comedy Wednesday at 9 p.m. It is about one big family with multiple stereotypes. The first stereotype is the average family. The dad tries to be hip like his kids but doesn't succeed. The mom, who was a crazy child, now is a strict parent and the children are the only normal ones in the family. The grandpa remarried a younger Latina woman. They had a child who wants to proclaim his love to a 16-year-old girl, and he's only 10. The uncle, who is gay, recently adopted a Vietnamese child with his partner. This show was funny from the start. It was enjoyable because it was different from other family shows bringing, humor to controversial issues. "Glee," a new show on FOX, is about a group of high school students from all different cliques. From the jocks to the nerds, people from all over the school join a glee club that isn't so popular. The teacher, Mr. Will Schuester, is having problems with his wife lying to him about a baby that's on the way. The students face their own problems with a pregnant teen and a girl who didn't win the part she deserved. This comedy is absolutely hilarious. You might think this is just and "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. The storyline is compelling and mostly funny, but also has some drama. "Glee" is a must watch for any music or comedy lover. This is the first new show that has been picked up for a full that he adds a feature at the end. His first guest on the show was a good friend, Jerry Seinfeld. Kanye West talked about his incident with Taylor Swift at the MTV Video Music Awards. Later, Jay-Z performed "Run This Town" with everyone in the office about it when he had no evidence himself that it was true. When he learned it was actually true, he tries to cover it up with lies about everyone else. The season opener was hysterical. There wasn't a point where "Fligh School Musical" all season. "Glee" is on Fo^on it wasn't funny. over again but it's actually for high schoolers and adults who like music and comedy but not of the cheesy variety. The actual music is really good. It has toe-tapping songs like "Single Ladies" by Beyonce Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Former Tonight Show host, Jay Leno, has moved to the 10 p.m. time slot. It follows the same format of his old late night show: monologue, guest, musical guest. The only change is Kanye West and Rihanna. Headlines, a feature he did on The Tonight Show, where he reads typos from newspapers, ads and magazines. The show is funny, but it seems like a replica of the late night shows, only at an earlier time. It was nice to see Jay Leno back on TV though because he was still funny. Although the show was enjoyable, it just seems like a time filler because it is just like the late night show was before, nothing changed like the promos said it would. "The Jay Leno Show" is on NBC at 10 p.m. on weekdays. One of the returning shows this fall is "The Office." For those who don't know what "The Office" is, it is a mockumentary about a dysfunctional office that is lead by a clueless boss. It consists of strange co workers such as Dwight, the weirdest character on the show, Kelly, the rumor spreader, and Jim, one of the normal people with a good sense of humor. The season finale left us questioning if Pam was pregnant and if Michael still had feelings for Holly. This season, Michael has some new interns in the office and when the interns go out, they see Stanley with another woman other than his wife. Michael learns about this and tells If you stopped watching the series, haven't seen it before, or watch it now and then, now is the time to become a dedicated fan. The show brings mockumentary to TV, something that no other TV show has done before. Unfortunately, many shows now try to copy "The Office" like "Parks and Recreation" but there's no comparison, "The Office" wins by far. "The Office" is on Thursdays at 9 p.m. on NBC. The last new show is a new drama that's coming to NBC, called "Trauma." It is not the average medical show. Instead of the story focusing on the doctors, it focuses on the paramedics. It follows six paramedics in multiple situations where they have to use their skills to transport patients safely to the hospital as quickly as possible. A fast-paced, action-packed show makes this one of the top dramas this fall. I really liked this show. Normally, doctor/ cop shows are very bad but this one seemed to be better because we already know about the doctors, but not about the accident. "Trauma" is on at 9 p.m. on Mondays on NBC. This season, obviously, is one of the best seasons we've had in a while. For more information, check your local listings. I can't wait to see what's next!
