M c ^ fr Five Guys Burgers and Fries provides options for everyone ■ J ennifer S itton Staff Reporter Any restaurant that has over 250,000 possible ways to eat a burger is worth trying. The burgers are tasty, fresh, and shockingly cheap at the new Five Guys Burgers and Fries that recently opened up in the Willamette area of West Linn. The restaurant was voted the Reader's Choice #1 Hamburger from 1999 to 2008 by Washingtonian Magazine. Upon walking into the restaurant you immediately realize that this is no ordinary fast food burger joint. The ambiance is one of excitement and the people working there give you the impression that they love what they do: serve you great food! The kitchen is extremely well staffed and even with huge lines of people waiting, the food is always made-to-order just how you like it in less than ten minutes. Five Guys’ specialty is burgers, of which you have the option of a hamburger, Employees prepare the hamburgers and fries that Five Guys is famous for, while patrons place their orders. Five Guys recently opened off the 10th Street exit in the Willamette area of West Linn. It has already become a favorite with many students. Now, here is where the experienced burger eater outsmarts the menu. You see, a regular hamburger comes with two patties, whereas a little hamburger comes with one patty. So if you aren't looking for a huge double cheeseburger, opt for a little burger. All burgers come with the option of 16 different toppings, all of which are free. You will pay the same price if you only slather on ketchup and mustard, or if you load up with mayonnaise, grilled onions, pickles, tomatoes, jalapeno peppers, bar-B-Q sauce and lettuce. Pizza is also a great way to ease your hunger pains. The quickest place to grab pizza by the slice is Bellagios, which offers a wide variety of choices. If you call and order ahead, it will be ready when you arrive. A slice of pizza at Bellagios is $4.75 including a fountain drink. To avoid growling stomachs and empty wallets, following this advice can help you to make lunch a quicker and more pleasant experience for you and your friends— that is, if you have a car. If the crowded lunch lines at the beginning of lunch are not for you, here are some ways to avoid unneeded grouchiness during your lunch hour. The Five Dollar Foot Long at Subway is not the only good deal for a nearby sandwich. The Singer Café which is located in downtown Oregon City, is the best place to pick up a turkey sandwich. The Turkey Club on sourdough is only $4.50, 50 cents cheaper than Subway and featuring fresher and healthier ingredients. The Singer Café only took around three minutes to make the sandwich. With only a few people in the café, it was a great lunch experience. They were voted Best French Fries in 2008 by Capital Region Living Magazine. Hot dogs are offered in four different styles: kosher, cheese, bacon or bacon cheese. Veggie or grilled cheese sandwiches are also available upon request for non meat eaters. One significant feature of the restaurant that could really affect patrons is the practice of shelling peanuts and tossing the shells on the floor. The shells are routinely swept up, and this gives the restaurant a casual feel, but anyone with a peanut allergy could really be affected, so if this includes you, I’d suggest staying away from Five Guys. Five Guys wasn't voted best bargain in 2000 through 2007 by Washington Magazine for no reason. Regular burgers cost $4.49, little burgers cost $3.49, cheeseburgers cost $5.09, bacon cheeseburgers cost $5.89, regular fries cost $2.79 and large fries cost $3.59. The Five Guys menu is noticeably simple, which makes things easier on patrons when deciding what to order. According to www. fiveguys.com, "(Five Guys) follows the philosophy of focusing on a few items, and serving them to the best of our ability." He laid and thought, for he was distraught. He had only sold two, he needed to sell ten and this he knew. So he decided to quit, and right then he split. He took to the streets and he heard some sick beats. He decided to follow and met up with a guy named Apollo, who had just been fired and didn't want to get rehired.
