2008 News Jazz Choir, Second place at Clackamas Community College Jazz Festival, Outstanding Soloist Award: Elise Biancardi, senior Who or what inspires you? I’m inspired by 'The Big Picture.' Usually when I'm frustrated I'm zoomed in too far, thinking of myself rather than the world or the future. When I step back, everything becomes hopeful. What are you passionate about? I love singing and I love my family. I also want to ISEF, First in Physics, Chemistry and Biochemistry: Marisa Peralta, senior What inspires you? Eva Cassidy, an American singer, is one r my heroes. What are you passionate about? New things. What are your out-of- school activities? I'm a highland dancer, I do some ballet, and I love to sing. I'm into coffee. What's your class load? **u$y! AP English, AP Physics, B C . H o n o rs Humanities, French IV, and Healthful Living. What's your favorite class/ teacher? Why? AP Physics is my favorite subject. A class I really enjoy is Humanities- Ms. Murray is amazing! How did you get started in science? I got into it my junior year. Before then, I wanted to study philosophy in college and be a filmmaker, but when I took physics in junior year, I got interested in it and decided to pursue science in college. What do you think is the most important issue in the world today? Why? The ENVIRONMENT! It becomes more and more critical as the world's energy needs increase, relying on limited, make change in the world, and have an effect on people. What out-of-school activities do you do? This year, I was a part of Jazz Choir, Mock Trial, the musical and the acting competition. I also go to church activities throughout the week. What's your class load? I’m taking early earlybird Seminary, Early-Bird Jazz Choir, AP Physics, Honors Humanities, Symphonic Choir, AP Music Theory, AP Spanish and English. What's your favorite class/teacher? Why? I think it’s a tie between Jazz Choir and Honors Humanities. I'm always pushed to think hard and stretch my brain with Honors Humanities. Jazz Choir is hard work; no one can slack off. We make something magical. When did you begin singing? I grew up singing with my family, and have taken a class every year since second grade. What do you think is the most important issue in the world today? Why? Respect. It's an all encompassing problem. You need respect for your environment, your country, and the people around you. Where do you see yourself in 15 years? I'll be finished with school, maybe with my masters degree. I would love to be married, with two kids. I don't want a career, but I would be busy, with the kids and singing. If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why? Meg in Hercules. She’s just that cool. Meg is definitely the only Disney character with a backbone. What's your favorite food? Vanilla ice cream with peanut butter, caramel and marshmallows. Describe your dream vacation. I would want to go to New England with a group of my friends for a few weeks. Its a perfect balance between the city and the country. non-renewable resources. It is related to so many major issues (economic, political) and, of course, it affects everyone. Where do you see yourself in 15 years? Living in Portland. I would love to work in R&D for environmental technology. If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why? Jasmine. She has a tiger and a magic carpet. Nuff said. What's your favorite food? PB&J on waffles Describe your dream vacation. Fiji. It's beaches, sun, and a totally different culture. Jazz Band, First place at Clackamas Community College Jazz Festival: Timothy Comfort, junior Who/what is your favorite teacher/class? Why? Band with Cumpston, because he makes everything fun and interesting. How did you get started in Jazz Band? I tried out in 10th grade and I got in. I've been playing since sixth grade. What do you think is the most important issue in the world today? Genocide in Africa, because it's destroying nations and shouldn't be happening. Where do you see yourself in 15 years? I’m going to be a stunt man with Ryan Nesbit, a friend of mine in Jazz Band. If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why? Rafiki, from "The Lion King." What's your favorite food? Chicken fettucini alfredo. Describe your j dream vacation. Traveling Europe specifically Switzerland. Who or what inspires you? Mr. Cumpston, the band teacher, because he portrays his love of music through his playing, and it is very inspiring. What are you passionate about? Music...it's what I do. What are your out-of- school activities? Jazz Band, Youth Group, Rugby, Ultimate Frisbee. What's your class load? Jazz Band, English 11, Trigonometry, Physics, Healthful Living, Symphonic Band, and International Relations. , . . . ilC T D a n c e T eam , s ix th I at State: Hillary Krippaehne, sophomore Who or what inspires you? God. And my family and friends. All three keep me going. What are you passionate about? God is a passion in my life. And I also love dancing. There is no other feeling like it in the world. After performing, you get a feeling that can't be described. My family and friends are also a big part of my life. What are your out-of school activities? I dance. And I'm looking for a job at the moment, too! What's your class load? I'm taking Ecology, US History, Precalculus, Chemistry, English, and - - Spanish III. It's n ot too b ad of a schedule. j- f is - - - -v. - ' ' J What's your favorite class/teacher? Why? I like English and Ecology. Ecology is fun because I hear about helping the environment and learn things that I can actually apply to real life. I love English because reading and writing have always been a passion of mine. How did you get started in dance? I've been dancing since I was little. It was always something I've been interested in. For the most part of my life dance has just been something fun to do. But then in 8th grade I decided to try out for the Debs. I started taking more serious classes to help me improve. I tried out and made it and its been . What do you think is the most important issue in the world today? Why? I think we need to start taking care of our environment. If everyone cared about the Earth and did little things to help and make it better, imagine what could happen! Where do you see yourself in 15 years? I'll hopefully be married and lu iy c 4 le w Kids, working in a job that I love and just living the life. If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why? Well one of the princesses of course! Maybe Cinderella or Jasmine. I've always thought it would be fun to fly on a magic carpet. What's your favorite food? I love apples, especially if they are freshly cut. And cookie dough ice cream is yummy too. Describe your dream vacation. My dream vacation would probably be somewhere in Europe. I would take my cousin and we would travel all over the place.
