"(Daniel) was the
spontaneous type who
would decide that
morning that everyone
should go camping and
just have a great time. He
loved the outdoors like
scuba diving, shooting,
riding his bike, fishing,
driving the old jeep at
Lee Thomas cabin. He
loved road trips and loved
to drive far distances
and enjoyed everything
around him.
He liked all kinds of
music; you could catch
him listening to anything
really. He used to play
the music that went with
his mood, so you could
alwavs tell what he was
feeling by what music he
was listening to.
Daniel was the type of
person that when we were
hanging out, we could be

better than he was at it. He
was the kind of person that
didn't just care about the
people in his life, but also
about the people he didn't
even know. His favorite star
was the star closest to the pan
in the big dipper, it was the
smallest star but it meant so
much to him."

"When Tom was about
five or six vears old, I was
racing him to the car in the
parking lot of our sister's
apartm ent building. He
saw a man across the street
wearing an eye patch, got
a huge grin on his face and
yelled "Hey pirate!" The
man just laughed a little
but our mom p ut Tom in
trouble. Tom loved to make
people laugh.
He used to go into
Portland all the time to
check out CD's from the
M ultnomah Country
Library. He would go once
or twice a week, checking
out 10 to 15 CD's at a
time. He w ould take them
home and rip them to his
computer. That's how he

"Dan was a great kid. He always had a great time in my PE classes. He was a very
personable kid who was great to talk to one-on-one. I had both Dan and Tom in my PE
classes; they were complete opposites . Tom was always in the foreground as a class clown
while Dan kind o f slipped into the background. But they were both fun -loving kids who
always had a good time . "

"I remember back to
freshman vear when my
friends Kathryn, Starr,
Arissa and me were
all hanging out with
Daniel one afternoon. We
decided out of nowhere
to have a lemonade stand
(Yes, we were 15 years-old
and having a lemonade
stand). We ran up to
Safeway, getting about
10 liters of lemonade,
tons of cups, ice and
napkins and ran back to
the corner near Rosemont
Road. Since we did look
pretty old to be having
a lemonade stand we
definitely didn't get a lot
of customers, but we had
fun running around and
acting like kids again,
throwing ice down shirts
and practically spilling
more lemonade than selling.
By the end of the day we
made a whopping 25 cents.
Daniel always had the
ability to make any situation
enjoyable, even on a day
which seemed like a bust.
He gave us an afternoon we
will alwavs remember and
we will never forget what an
amazing friend he was to all
of us.”

"(Tom) was so fun. I
remember since he's so
tall and I'm so short he
would stand next to me
or in front of me and look
around saying, ’Where
did Adrianna go? W here’s
Adrianna?' And I would
have to jum p and wail my
arms saying 'Right here!
Right here!' He always
m ade me laugh. He w ould
also always make friends
with those people who were
'outcasts’ in our classes, he
w ould laugh w ith them and
make jokes with them. He
m ade people feel special.
He was a great person. He
was also that type of person
who was the loudest in the
class but always the one the
teachers loved the most, no
one could get mad at him
because he was too funny
"Daniel was the kind
of kid who would call me
after he had a fight with
his girlfriend or was in
the kind of mood where
all he wanted to do was
talk. We'd go down to the
docks, sit in his car, and
talk for hours on end. 1
could always count on
him, because he knew that
he could always count on
me too. I would call him,
stranded at Starbucks, and
ask him what he was doing,
and I remember, whatever
he was doing at the time,
he would always leave to
come give me a ride home.
I trusted that boy with
my life, and I know he
trusted me. We had the
kind of relationship where
everything and anything
that had to be said or talked
about, we said or talked
about it. He was humble
and caring, and it is the
hardest thing for me to
think that I won’t get to see
him or talk to him again.
He will be greatly missed
by all, and even more bv
those who knew and loved
him.”

have around. The thing I
loved about him was all the
facial expressions he would
make when he walked into
a room or just w hen he
w ould walk by; he always
had Jo make some weird
face. It was so funny."

"I was looking back
through the yearbooks
to see the first time I met
Tom. After thinking about
it for a little while, I knew
the exact time. The first
day of kindergarden I
remember walking in late,
like usual, and there was
this abnormally tall kid
that looked right at me
and immediately made
fun of my height. In return
I called him giraffe neck
and we’ve been friends
ever since. Tom, you were
always such a good friend
to me. I love you man.
