SWIMMERS QUALIFY
FOR LIFEGUARDS
For the purpose of training life
guards to assist in swimming
classes within the school and
recreational parks during the
summer, a lifesaving class of 16
senior life guards and nine jun
ior life guards has recently com
pleted its activities. The class,
directed by Miss Marion Locher,
girls’ physical education instruc
tor, consisted of a 12 weeks’ pe
riod in which each girl swam an
hour daily. Following this was a
swimming test and a written ex
amination.
Those girls that qualified for
senior awards were Janice Otnes,
Margaret Illingworth. Pat Deam-

when he broke a finger on his

probably make it impossible for
