Linn Golfers Invited Girls Gym Classes To State Townament Present May Dances The girls gymj classes, tinder the instruction of Miss Mosh- Berger, will .present a series of dances this afternoon for the May Day program. Thé first dance is to be given by the first period class: The minuet and the Lambeth walk. Sixth period follows with the waltz and tango. The third pe riod will present the schottisehe and conga. The fourth period girls will do the polka and /jib terbug and the second period class will close the dancing with the Maypole darice. Many of the dances utilize folk dance steps. The conga arid the tango are Latin rhythms, while the Lambeth walk is a step imported from England a few yëars ago. The program of dancing will start at 1:30 this afternoon. The West Lirin high school student body is iii receipt Of a letter inviting its golf team to participate in a state tourna- rnent to be held on the Launel wood course in Eugene on May 17. The state tournament is an annual affair Which in recent years has been sponsored by Eugene high and University high school of Eugene.' West Linn’s teams have frequently placed high in this competition, one year placing fifty and in another walking away with second hon ors. The match this year will con sist, of an 18 hole medal play, with the winners being dètër- mined by the lowest team score. An entrance fee of fifty cents per1 school is being charged. Iii the county contest, Buckles was first, Joyce Hobérg of West Lirtn second and Betty Inskeep of Oregon City Junior high was third. Buckles and Miss Hoberg were ¿warded their prizes for the county contest in a special as sembly held April 21. Buckles was recently awarded his prize for thè state contest. His essay, on "One Nation, indivisible,” will be judged in the national; contest. Boys'Chorus to Sing At O.C. Church Next Sûnday morning the Boys’ Chorus will be guests of the Ore gon City Presbyterian church, where they will provide the music in place of the regular choir. Mr. Wade, the music de partment head, is also the Choir- master at the Presbyterian church. At other occassions the Brass Choir has appeared and been asked for encore appear ances. The Boys’ Chorus will be singing The Blind Ploughman, by Robert C. Clark and Where ’Er You Walk, by Handel and Hoppin. Future Farmers Elect Frank Bracelin Prexy At a regular meeting of the F. F. Lowell Baker has been selected as the first owner of the pure-bred Poland China gilt which was donated to the F. F. A. by the local Kiwanis club. Thursday, April 10, the agri cultural department were the hosts of the Clackamas Couhtÿ Jersey Club which held a meeting in the agricultural shop to make preparations for the spring sh'ow. Speech and Honor Groups To Make Coast Trip The. Hbnor Society and the Speech club have made plans to hold their beach trip Saturday, May 24. Plans for the cöast trip were discussed at a. joint meeting of the two organizations held last Wednesday. President Lois Butler of the Honor Society and Presi dent Gieren Cämpbbll of fhe Speech club have announced that they expect this to be the largest and most successful of beach trips held by the two clubs.
