He shared a stage with Lynx, a fellow performer who entertained audiences with magic, comedy, and sword swallowing. They also shared their stage with the Marigold Collective; dancers who performed in honor of Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). On a second stage at the fair, in the eating area, music groups performed for audiences of fellow performers, vendors, and guests. Some of the performing bands were the Vintage Vandals, the Black Irish Band, and Tragically White. In Sonora, they celebrate the Celtic New Year’s Fes- tival and have celebrated it for 31 years. The All Hallows Fantasy Faire has been up and running for eight years alongside the Celtic Festival. “We wanted to cel- ebrate Samhain—Celtic New year,” Gary Britt Jr. a co-owner of the faire explained. “The Celts only had two seasons; summer and winter. October 31 was the New Year into winter because winter is the fi rst season and summer was the last in the year, so this was the festival to honor that.” According to the All Hallows Fantasy Faire website, “Samhain is a Gaelic festival marking the end of the harvest season the end of the Celtic year when the Holly King defeats the Oak King ‘The Bringer of Light’ and the beginning of winter or the ‘darker half’ of the year. We burn the Harvestman in honnor of the fallen Oak King as a symbolic funeral. ‘Out of the Ashes he will be reborn.’” The fair hosted different vendors who sold mer- chandise from handmade jewelry, clothing, and other accessories, to natural stones and goats milk soap.
