Huntington woman
wins $75K in lottery
Lillian Mathews of
Huntington had a fortune
cookie worth $75,000.
Mathews, a chef at
the Huntington Charter
School, opened the fortune
cookie at the end of a Chi-
nese food meal. Her for-
tune: "Lady Luck will visit
you soon." She put the slip
of paper in her pocket and
the next thing she knew,
she hit the highest Lucky
Lines jackpot in the game's
history.
"I just started playing
Lucky Lines too," she
said. "I bought a couple of
tickets the day before. It
was crazy."
Mathews, who also
is part owner of Grady's
Tavern, said she purchased
the ticket there. After she
scanned the ticket, she
kept scanning it over and
over to make sure she won
$75,000.
"I checked it online, I
even called the Lottery
offi ce and they confi rmed

it was a winning ticket,"
she said.
Mathews bought new
furniture with her win-
nings, but besides that,
likes seeing the balance of
her bank account after the
win.
"It's a nice feeling," she
said. "It's going to be a
good Christmas."
Lucky Lines is a tic-tac-
toe style game that has a
daily drawing and includes
a rolling jackpot, which
starts at $10,000 and grows
until someone wins!
Mathews' jackpot was
the second-highest Lucky
Lines jackpot since the
game went on sale in 2006.
The largest Lucky Lines
prize was $91,000 won in
November 2012 by Geor-
gie Lowell of Albany.
