Work crew cleans up local ponds
On Saturday, September
10, 2016, Baker County
Sheriff’s Offi ce Parole and
Probation Division sent a
community service work
crew to the Haines Pond
and 203 Pond in Baker
County for litter clean up.
The work crew, super-
vised by Deputy Mike
Dunn, fi lled the communi-
ty service trailer with trash
that has been accumulat-
ing at these two locations.
Both ponds are open
to the public and family
friendly fi shing locations
that were in need of
cleaning. Now that trash
has been removed, the
Sheriff’s Offi ce asks that
all users and visitors pitch
in and pick-up after them-
selves and each other in a
united effort to help keep
the areas litter-free.
Community Service-
Work Crew is either
ordered by the Court or
as a sanction by Parole/
Submitted Photo.
The Parole and Probation Division sent a community service work crew out to
local ponds to clean up litter.
Pro Offi cers. Crews are
dispatched to not-for-profi t
entities and other projects
as approved by the Parole
and Probation Division.
Community service is a
program that allows the
offender to “pay back”
the community for past
wrong doings as well as
teach work skills and work
ethics.
Those individuals as-
signed to work crew also
learn a sense of commu-
nity pride.
Due to budget reduc-
tions, work crew was not
possible until recently
when a grant was procured
giving the Sheriff’s Offi ce
the ability to again send
crews into the community.
The Work Crew has
also completed projects at
the Wingville Cemetery,
Halfway Rodeo Grounds,
Haines School, Leo Adler
Parkway and graffi ti
removal of the stone house
near I-84.
If you know of a project
that the work crew could
