LANNING, James STEELE, Alan WILKERSON, Harold MULDER, Antoine Alice Dodge Baker City, 1931-2016 Alice Dodge, 79, of Baker City, Ore- gon passed away at her residence Alice under the Dodge care of Heart ‘n Home Hospice on Septem- ber 15, 2016. On July 29, 1937, Alfred (Tat) and Esther (Johnson) Crow welcomed Alice into the world in Prosser, Wash- ington. Alice attended school in Prosser at Prosser High School and shortly after graduating in 1956, she married Sam Vincent in Prosser. Sam tragi- cally passed away in a car accident. Alice worked in retail sales for many years as a Payless employee and at Prosser Pak in Prosser. On her birthday in 1997, she married her second husband Floyd Dodge in Baker City, Oregon who also preceded her in death. Alice enjoyed collect- ing knick-knacks, hunting for treasures at yard sales, attending estate sales, play- ing pool and being a mem- ber of a bowling league when she lived in Prosser, Washington. She was also a member of the American Legion. The most notable thing about Alice was her love for taking care of oth- ers as if they were her own. Alice is survived by a vast number of family and friends, all of whom were loved dearly by her. She is preceded in death by her father Alfred F. Crow (otherwise known as Tat) and her mother Esther (Johnson) Crow, her fi rst husband Sam Vincent and her second husband Floyd Dodge. She is also preceded in death by her brother Frank A. Work crew cleans up local ponds On Saturday, September 10, 2016, Baker County Sheriff’s Offi ce Parole and Probation Division sent a community service work crew to the Haines Pond and 203 Pond in Baker County for litter clean up. The work crew, super- vised by Deputy Mike Dunn, fi lled the communi- ty service trailer with trash that has been accumulat- ing at these two locations. Both ponds are open to the public and family friendly fi shing locations that were in need of cleaning. Now that trash has been removed, the Sheriff’s Offi ce asks that all users and visitors pitch in and pick-up after them- selves and each other in a united effort to help keep the areas litter-free. Community Service- Work Crew is either ordered by the Court or as a sanction by Parole/ Submitted Photo. The Parole and Probation Division sent a community service work crew out to local ponds to clean up litter. Pro Offi cers. Crews are dispatched to not-for-profi t entities and other projects as approved by the Parole and Probation Division. Community service is a program that allows the offender to “pay back” the community for past wrong doings as well as teach work skills and work ethics. Those individuals as- signed to work crew also learn a sense of commu- nity pride. Due to budget reduc- tions, work crew was not possible until recently when a grant was procured giving the Sheriff’s Offi ce the ability to again send crews into the community. The Work Crew has also completed projects at the Wingville Cemetery, Halfway Rodeo Grounds, Haines School, Leo Adler Parkway and graffi ti removal of the stone house near I-84.
