Theft I. — Obituaries — Lorraine Lohner Baker City, 1931-2016 Lorraine Swanson Lohner, 85, of Baker City died on Septem- ber 8, 2016 at home with family Lorraine Lohner by her side. There will be no services at this time. Lorraine was born on September 7, 1931 to John and Viola Swanson on her family’s dairy farm outside of Askov, MN. She gradu- ated from Willow River H.S. in 1949 and State Teachers College in Saint Cloud in 1953. Lorraine moved to Or- egon to start her teaching career and married Fred Lohner in 1954. Lor- raine taught in elementary schools for 35 fulfi lling years, primarily in the Bend-LaPine and Pleasant Hill School Districts. She was fortunate to have had her future son-in-law and several grandchildren as students. Lorraine is survived by her husband Fred, sis- ters Beatrice and Nancy of MN, and Arlene of Lebanon, OR; sons Jay and Wyn of Baker City and daughter Rene of LaPine; and their spouses Connie, Robin, and Stan; grandchildren Amanda, Dillon, Kyle, Jackie, Jacob, Zachary, and Lauren; great-grandchildren Lo- relei, Lane, Leah, Caitlin, Kimber, Olin, Lyle, Austin, Rylee, Emerson, Raynes, Haven, Lola, Eva, and Clara. Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, her in-laws, and a brother. Lorraine was a teacher of values and faith every day of her life. She was loved by all and will be missed by all. Floyd Simonis, Sr. Baker City, 1939-2016 Floyd Rea Simonis Sr., 76, of Baker City died Tuesday, September 06, 2016 at his residence. At his request, no formal services will be held. Floyd was born on No- vember 9, 1939 in Rich- land, Oregon to Alex E. Simonis and Susie (Pain) Simonis. He attended high school in Baker City. Floyd served his country for three years in the Unit- ed States Army and eight years in the Army National Guard; he earned the rank of Specialist 4. After serving his country, Floyd worked at the Sonny Slope Ranch for 14 years, Baker Redi Mix for 11 years, Warren Crane Trucking for 8 years, and Marvin Wood Products for 16 years. Floyd married Teena A. Neligh in 1965 in Portland, Oregon. He leaves behind his sister Jean Croxn of Herm- iston, Oregon, son Mark Spurlock of Baker City, daughter Robin Spurlock Wiegel of Sadona, Arizona, and son Floyd R. Simonis Jr. of Baker City. Rose Anna Scott Baker City, 1926-2016 Rose Anna Scott, 90, of Baker City died Friday, September 02, 2016 Rose Anna at her Scott residence. A visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 7 at Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.. Her funer- al will take place at 3:00 PM on Thursday, Sept. 8 at the Baker City Christian Church with a reception following in the church fel- lowship hall. She will join her husband, James Scott, at the Willamette National Cemetery in Portland on the following Monday. Roy Wymond Brasher and Adele Anna (Hopken) Brasher were delighted to welcome their daughter, Rose Anna Scott, into the world on February 9, 1926 in Sacramento, Califor- nia. Rose attended high school at Oakland High and on May 19, 1945 she and James Rochford Scott joined their hands in mar- riage in San Jose, Califor- nia. Together James and Rose had three wonderful boys; James, Robert, and Raymond. Rose worked as a telephone operator dur- ing World War II and she also sold Avon. She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved and encouraged her children throughout their lives and to her loving family; this was her great- est and most appreciated accomplishment. When Rose had spare time she loved to do crewel embroidery, crochet, work on crossword puzzles, play cards, and put together puzzles. Rose leaves behind three beloved sons; James H. Scott of Baker City, Robert S. Scott of Baker City, and Raymond J. Scott of Baker City. She also leaves be- hind two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Adele Brasher, and her husband, James Scott. Sylvester Eugene “Gene” Salada Baker City, 1934-2016 Sylvester “Gene” Salada, 82, of Baker City, Ore- gon passed away at St. Alphonsus Gene Medical Salada Center in Baker City on August 18, 2016 due to complications from pneu- monia. Gray’s West & Co. Pioneer Chapel is assisting the family. Gene was born on June 4, 1934, in Dubois, PA to Emery and Audrey Salada. After Attending Sandy Township High School, Gene joined the Air Force and trained to work on air- craft at Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.
