Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Gilman Baker City, 1934-2016 Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Gilman, 82, died on March 10, 2016 in Baker City, Oregon. Betty Ann A Memo- Gilman rial Service ~ Celebration of Betty’s Life will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Baker City Church of the Naza- rene (corner of Hughes Lane and Cedar) at 2:00 p.m. Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Gilman, was born on February 7, 1934 in Ham- ilton, Montana. Married Cecil Fortin, they had two children and later divorced. She married Allen Gilman on April 1, 1977 in Elko, Neva Betty was a seasonal worker at the sugar beet factory in Nyssa, Oregon. She also had an eye for design and worked as a fl orist. Betty enjoyed craft- ing, crocheting, sewing, cooking, camping, garden- ing and fi shing. She had a great sense of humor, loved and enjoyed April Fools day, not only for the pranks she could pull, but it also being the day that she married the love of her life, Allen. During her life she lived in Montana, Wash- ington and Idaho. After her The husband Allen retired, they became snowbirds and would winter in Arizona. She was an active member of the Baker City Nazarene Church and volunteered in the kitchen, at the Compas- sion Center and sang in the choir. Betty is survived by her sons Mike and his wife Cindy Fortin, Mark and his wife Gerie Fortin all of Durkee, Oregon; Grand- children Becky and her husband Doug Williams, Nichole and her husband Kestin Masterson and Jasen Fortin; great grand- children Casey Jo Wil- liams, Keegan Masterson, Mason Fortin Masterson, Caleb Emerson Fortin, Sophia Fortin and Maci Masterson. She was preceded in death by her husband Allen; parents James and Ethel Cole, sister Bernice Hawkins. A graveside Norma service will McKimmy be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 ~ 11:00 a.m. at the Pine Valley Cemetery in Halfway, Oregon. Friends are invited to join the family for a reception to be held immediately following the service at the Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. Norma Elaine was born on April 9, 1923 in Payette, Idaho to Neil and Bessie (Harris) Fitch. Norma mar- ried Albert (Mac) McK- immy on Aug 4, 1941. She was the proud wife of a World War II Air Force combat fl ight instruc- tor. For three years she followed her husband to several different Air Bases in Texas, . Norma helped by working as a telephone operator and a clerk typist with the Air Force. After 10 years of marriage they started their family and had 3 children. In 1957 they settled down in Halfway, Oregon and in 1958 purchased the Halfway Market. Norma worked as a clerk in the market and was a dedi- cated homemaker. She was active in her church, sang in the church choir and held bible studies in her home. She led exercise classes and acted as a taxi service to help anyone needing a ride. She loved music, movies, dancing, walking and camping in mountains with her family. She cherished her many dear friends in Halfway. The morning before she passed a dove landed near her window briefl y to comfort her with the most peaceful sounds. She passed peacefully the next morning surrounded by family. Norma is survived by her children, Diane and her husband Dan Kestler of Oregon City, Oregon; Mike McKimmy of Au- rora, Oregon, Scott and his wife Randy McKimmy of Dayton, Washington; 10 grandchildren and their spouses, 17 great grand- children with two more on the way; She is also survived by her sisters, Wilma and Carol and her brother Jay. She was preceded in death by her husband Mac; her parents and brother Rod. Norma touched the lives of her family and friends with loving memories that will never fade away.
