FRIDAY, JULY 31, 2015 Local & Entertainment — Obituaries — CONTINUED FROM PAGE 2 Cliff Welter In 1946, Cliff started his own construction company "Cliff Welter Construc- tion." It was truly a family business. His company built several medical build- ings around Baker County including The Baker Vi- sion Clinic, Saint Alphon- sus Valley Medical Clinic, and The Baker Clinic. He also built the Presbyterian Church and Unity High School. The things Cliff enjoyed the most during his life was spending time with his family, hunting, camping, fi shing and boating. He loved the outdoors and had a cabin on both the Snake River and in Sumpter. When Friday's would roll around the family packed up and headed out for a weekend of fun. Cliff was preceded in death by his wife Beatrice, Son Mike Welter, his par- ents, and all of his siblings. Cliff is survived by Sons; Dale Welter and his companion Alice West; Roger and Sally Welter; Grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews. For those who would like to make a memorial donation in Memory of Cliff, the family suggests "Creating Memories." (Monies helps with equip- ment, fuel, or fi shing poles to help give the opportu- nity to those children with disabilities a chance to get outdoors to hunt or fi sh.) through Tami's Pine Valley Funeral Home & Crema- tion Services PO Box 543 Halfway, Oregon 97834. I’ve had a lot of valedictorians and salutatorians in my classes,” said Sizer. “I give thanks to the ad- ministration here—having Jerry Peacock and Mindi Vaughan here all these years was a great support. And, thanks to the really strong elementary school music teachers. I also want to thank the Leo Adler Foundation and the Harold Kirklin Fund and the alum- ni who buy instruments through their donations. Also, the Community Con- cert Association has been very supportive and has hired the band to backup performers, and have had us on the concerts,” said Sizer. “The year we had the (Oregon) Symphony here was a highlight of my career. Other highlights include the trips we take every year and the fi ve or six times we‘ve played at the state band festival,” he added. Like any great performer, Sizer leaves the Baker School District at the top of his game with his audi- ence wanting more. “Pasco is a good location for me because my daugh- ter is going to Whitman in Walla Walla and because it’s close to Baker and I’ll come back to Baker,” he promised. Then she col- lected all the clothes into bags and donated them. We live in Union County and hope it’s ok to submit this! As par- ents, we’re impressed every day with her kindness.
