Baker County Circuit Court warrant for order to show cause original HOSPITAL BOOK FAIR Saint Alphonsus Auxiliary- Baker City will be hold- ing their annual book fair Thursday, May 21st from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The book fair will be located in the hospital breezeway. There will be a wide selection of books as well as other gifts at 40% to 70% off retail pricing. INTERPRETIVE CENTER EVENTS Saturday and Sunday May 23rd and 24th, volunteers and staff will demonstrate pioneer skills such as quilt- ing, crafts, and food between 10:00 and 2:00 p.m. at the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center. Typical frontier crafts such as Dutch oven cooking, gold panning, or making beeswax candles and rag dolls. Presentations by roving interpreters will portray mountain men and homestead- ing women with authentically outfitted re-enactors. Safe Families for Children is a national movement of compassion that is preventing child abuse by encouraging the Church to resume its historical and Biblical responsibility for vulnerable children by becoming part of the support network for these children’s parents. Shirley Bernice Bloomer Baker City, 1947-2015 Shirley B. bloomer, 67, of Baker City died May 5, 2015 in the Presbyterian Shirley Care Center Bloomer in Ontario, OR. Recitation of the Rosary and visitation were held Sunday, May 10, 2015 at St. Francis de Sales Cathe- dral in Baker City. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, May 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral with Father Robert Greiner of- ficiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery with a reception following at St. Francis de Sales Parish Hall. Shirley was born on July 11, 1947 to the late Donald and Ida Hindman (Gerry) in Baker City, Oregon. She learned, from her parents, the importance of family unity and togetherness, values that she carried forward and shared with her own children. As a child she was raised in Durkee with many hours spent playing with her siblings and cousins. They then moved to LaGrande where she was a cheerlead- er and part of the dance team. She spent many hours with family on the river and time in Califor- nia with her cousins. She graduated from La Grande High School in 1965 and soon married Gary Bloomer. They raised four children in Durkee Valley. Shirley was a devoted mother and homemaker. Warm banana bread, cookies, or a home baked snack were always ready for her kids after school. Family meals were impor- tant to her, and the family sat down not only to eat, but to share the important happenings of their day. She was deeply devoted to faith and family. Shirley was very involved with her church, Sacred Heart in Durkee and St. Francis de Sales in Baker City by be- ing part of the Folk Choir, Altar Society, religious ed- ucation, holiday programs and community service programs. She was very active in life and loved water skiing, gardening and being outside; anytime the sun was out, she was out. She was always do- charge negotiating a bad check. Culley, Wade Scott. 5/12. Shirley lived a coura- geous life with Multiple Sclerosis, while showing the world that no matter what challenges you may be given, it does not have to define who you are. She handled it with grace, love and dignity. Complaining was not part of her character as she continued to live her days with integrity. Even through her final days, she left an impression on those around her with a strong spirit. Shirley gave the wonderful gift of love, compassion, strength and forgiveness as she touched the lives of many. She is an instrument of God, and will be with us forever. Shirley is survived by her children Sharry (Dale) Smull of Durkee, Oregon; Tammy (Shane) Pierce of Denver, Colorado; Cindy (Tod) Chandler of Baker City; and Craig (Peter) Bloomer of Chicago, Illi- nois; Her brothers Jack and Steve Hindman; Sisters Sue Wirth, Patty Hind- man, Judy VanDyke, Toni Alford; and nine grandchil- dren and on great grand- daughter. Freddie Leonard Masterson Baker City, 1944-2015 Freddie Leonard Masterson, 70, of Baker City Oregon died Wednes- Freddie day April 29, Masterson at his home surrounded by family. A Celebration of Fred’s Life with Military Honors & Potluck, will be held on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW Hall in Halfway, Oregon. Fred was born at home, October 22, 1944 in Halfway Oregon to parents Clyde and Velma (Tyler) Masterson. He attended all his school years in Halfway, Oregon graduat- ing from Pine Eagle High School in 1962. After graduation, Fred joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1966. Fred married Patricia Zackary in January 1968. In 1969 they welcomed a son they named Michael Ray. They later divorced in 1973. In December, 1977 Fred married Lynda Wright Hof- fecker and they had one son Marty Ray in 1978. They divorced in 1986. For most of his life Fred was a logger until he was disabled in 1994. Fred and Lynda were re- united in 2002 and remar- ried in 2003 in Council, Idaho, making their home in Halfway, Oregon. In 2008 they moved to Baker City but Fred’s heart was always in Halfway, where he raised five beautiful children and taught them how to enjoy Mother Na- ture’s gifts. He especially loved hunting, fishing, and camping. Fred had many favorite one liners, but one in particular was “If you’re gonna be a bear, be a griz- zly!” He is preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Velma Masterson, brother and sister-in-law Robert and Kris Masterson, broth- er-in-law Norm DuBosch, Stepson Charley Hof- fecker, and Granddaughter Zelena Jo Masterson. Fred is survived by his loving wife Lynda, children Michael Ray and his wife Betty Joe Master- son of Heppner, Oregon, son Marty Ray and his wife Lindsay Masterson of Central Oregon, daughter Day Bruhn of Baker City, Oregon; daughter Debra Dawn Holcomb of McCall, Idaho; seven grandchil- dren, three great grand- children; sister Beverly DuBosch of Baker City, brother Tom Masterson of Heppner, Oregon;, several nieces and nephews. Inter- ment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Grandview Cem- etery, 601 S. 20th Street, La Grande, Oregon. He was born in Wallowa, Oregon on December 13, 1926 to William and Mar- tha Cantrell. He met the love of his life, Alice May Weimer, in Junior High and they were married the day after their High School graduation in 1945. He served a tour with the Merchant Marines and on returning they moved to Portland Oregon where he worked for several years in the shipyards. After mov- ing back to La Grande they owned the 5 Points Auto Camp near Hilgard selling groceries, gasoline and lodging. The family moved to the ranch in Haines in 1958 where he has ranched for many years. He worked in the Baker County asses- sor’s office for 12 years be- fore being elected county assessor eight years after which he retired in 1989 continuing as a gentleman rancher. He is survived by his devoted wife Alice May, sons Mike (Tonna), Tony (Debbie), daughter Kathy Rogers (Marlin) and over 20 grand and great grand- children whom he adored.
