Three Medford girls, Miss BevLs, Miss Wakefield, and Miss Root qualified for the State track meet. For Ashland, Lyla Voth, Linda Tucker, and Cathy Phelps placed for State. Lyla qualified in the discus and the javelin. Cathy qualified in the javelin, while Linda qualified in the high jump and the javelin. Roger Goddard records good measurement in the broad jump during the Klamath Falls meet. Klamath won 75-57. KF, Crater, Yreka Succumbing farther into the j Southern Oregon Conference eel-1 lar, the Grizzly baseball nine lost ball games to Crater, Yreka, and Klamath Falls recently. With outstanding hitting from Gary Frohreich and good Crater pitching, the Comet nine took a pair of games from AHS recently, 6-1 and 6-0. In the first encounter, the Comets scored three runs in the first inning and one in the fourth and adding two in the seventh to secure the win from Ashland who scored their lone run in the fifth stanza. Halsey, for Crater, threw four hit ball, striking out 10 and walk- two. Ashland pitchers Rich Waddell and Dave Barger allowed seven hits while fanning seven and walking five. Dave Bailey threw one hit ball, striking out seven and walking two, and Gary Frohreich went three for three as Crater blanked Ashland in the second game. Rich Price and Roy Taylor al lowed 11 hits and struck out two for AHS. Yreka Defeats Bruins With the two hit pitching of Steve Lorenzini, the Yreka Miners doused the Grizzly spark, winning the baseball game, 6-2. The practice game saw Yreka open up for three runs in the second inning, one in the th'rd. and two more in the fifth stanza. AHS scored one in the second and one in the seventh inning, for their only scores. The Miners were able to gam only three hits off starter, Roy Taylor, and Rick Waddell. Terry Clark and Ross Coldwell collected the only Bruin hits. Klamath Wins DoublebiU Scoring 11 unearned runs, the Klamath Pelicans overcame the BILL'S TEXACO STEAM CLEANING UNDERCOATING Trust your car to the man who wears the star" Down Bruin Nine Bruins 11-2 in the first game of a doubleheader last weekend. The Pels won the second encounter, 6-3. The KF spark came early in the first game when the Pelicans scored eight first inning runs. They added three runs in the fifth while Ashland scored sepa rate runs in the first and fifth innings. Ashland hitters collected five hits and five errors to Klamath's 10 hits and one error. Bob Moore, Ken Grey, and Tom Narrman each hit twice in four trips to the plate for Klamath while Mike Schoonover, freshman member, hit safety twice in four trips. Klamath pitcher Steve Young allowed five hits while striking out four and walking two. He also hit one batter and balked twice. Ashland pitchers gave up 10 hits while striking out three and walking four. Tom O.sa, Moore, and Bob Wil liams collected two hits in four tries for Klamath in the second ame. Clark, Coldwell, and Dale Barger got the only Ashland hits. Klamath pitcher Tom Osa al lowed three hits, three walks, and truck out 13 Ashland hitters. Rich Price allowed eight hits while striking out three and walk- four. Kimjo Casuals 4 blocks past SOC campus WOMEN'S SPORTSWEAR OPEN 24 HOURS Track Men Improve Marks For the past three weeks from the Rotary meet in Grants Pass, to the Tri-meet in Ashland, to the dual meet in Klamath Falls the individual members of the track team have shown improve ment in competition with the other teams of the district. In the high and low hurdles, Wayne Calvary took two seconds at the Rotary meet, and while Calvary was out with a leg injury. Randy Nelson grabbed two firsts in Klamath Falls. In the 220 and 440-yard runs, 'Roger Goddard gained a second and a third place in the KF meet. Craig Hooper and Keith Mun- son are knocking off opponents the middle distance races. Craig is coming on strong in the 880-yard run with Keith right be hind him. They ran second and third respectively in the Klamath race after tieing for first in the mile. Keith holds the best time in district with a 4:30 mark set at GP in the mile. In the long distance, the two mile, John Meyer and Ron Le Blanc ran for a second and third in the Tri-meet and Ron took a second at Klamath. Men who shine in the field events are Tex Willis who threw the discus 148 feet 9 inches for a first place, and Greg Bowles who heaved the shot for a second at Klamath with Tex third. At the field events, Tim Voth broad jumped for a second place, Randy Nelson high jumped for a third, and Roger Springer in his second meet, pole vaulted 11 feet 6 inches for a first The spear men Tim Voth and Gary Pennington are currently first and second in district and among the top ten in state after tossing the javelin 207 and 203 feet respectively at Klamath. In the EP meet, Cliff Bradshaw. Jerry Bevans, and Terry Ragan won their singles match, while Jack Ragan and Bradshaw won their doubles match. The Crater meet saw Cliff down his opponent as did Jack Ragan and Terry Ragan in singles sets. Bradshaw and Bevans won their doubles match. The netters lost to Crater one week earlier, 3-4, as Bradshaw and Jack Ragan won their singles sets and Bradshaw and Bevans took one doubles match.
