New High School
For Ashland?
Next year's sophomores may be
the first seniors to graduate from
a completely new AHS building.
According to a recent feasibilitiy
report conducted by local engi
neers, a completely new building
should be built to replace the
old Ashland Senior High within
the next few years.
If a new high school is to be
built, it will probably be con
structed in a campus style with
each field of study occupying an
entire building, such as the pres
ent industrial arts building. (The
advantages of such a set-up are
numerous, but one that came to
mind a couple of weeks ago was
that only the science students
would suffer when those strange
odors came wafting out of the
chemistry lab!) If thus construct'
ed, the school would cover the
present site plus all the land be
tween the school and Morse
Street.
In the meantime, plans for next
year include the remodeling of
the church, where some English
classes are being held now, to
allow the entire English depart
ment to operate there.
