It’s the Monday after Pride. You’ve marched,
danced and otherwise exercised your way across town,
from celebration to celebration, party to party, burn
ing calorie after calorie. W hat to do?
Get yourself some eats, that’s what, some meaty
eats.
For the second annual Summer Beats & Bacon, a
three-city tour of multisensory flavor, Berlin Reed—
aka The Ethical Butcher—and colleagues will enter
tain both your pie- and ear-holes. The latest round
introduces four new flavors of pig profundity, burst
ing with seasonal fruits and berries, floral blooms,
summery heat and more. From bacon-candied pop
corn to bacon-wrapped herb bundles to a twist on the
classic BET, noshers should save their appetites for a
promised 12-15 pork creations.
To sweeten the most savory evening—held in
Portland at Saraveza—DJ Beyonda (of MRS., Eve
Got a Hole in M y Soul and Buck n’ Bounce fame)
will delight your aural palate with the best cuts of
music. The tasting will be followed by door prizes,
raffles, “bacon-themed” games and, for attendees in
one lucky city (others include Seattle and the already
sold-out San Francisco), a bacon crème brûlée
station.
