WWW.JUSTOUT.COM Portland Latino Gay Pride Named Grand Marshal of Portland Pride After five years of steady recognition as one o f the most innovative Pride organizations in the Northwest— and the country— Portland Latino Gay Pride was recently announced by Pride N W as 201 l ’s Pride Parade Grand M ar shal. The honor, held last year by Darcelle XV, is awarded to an individual or organization that makes an impact in the LGBTQ_community and demonstrates the value o f taking pride in one’s history and background. The last two years have seen the evolution o f the “La Lu- cha” theme, or “the struggle,” generate unity among the gay Latino community by sharing common struggles and accomplishments. One tradition that will be broken this year is P L G P ’s status as the official Pride month kick off celebration. This year’s celebration, “La Lu- cha 2011: ICe/ebrAccionl, will now take place July 14-17. The tagline for the event sums it up: “Bigger, Better, Hotter, and ...
