Good food, drinks and entertainment make for a complete and fun evening. Capitalizing on this tried and true concept, Starky’s restaurant and bar presents you with The Stark Raving Queens show. Held the last Sunday of the month, this queer revue kicks off with dinner at 5:30 p.m., the main event beginning promptly at 6:45 p.m. There’s no cover charge but purchase of food and beverage is, o f course, expected, and the restaurant will accept donations o f non-perishable food items for Esther’s Pantry, a local food bank for those living with HIV/AIDS. The Stark Raving Queens show is headlined by Heavenly Bliss, Coco Burnside and Candi Wrapper— three well-loved and respected veterans of Portland’s formidable drag scene. But fear you not—this variety show is more than just drag acts. While there’s lip-syncing aplenty, the show’s impresarios, Kcleka and Jett Ward, promise to keep the bill fresh and exciting every month by featuring new themes and special guest stars ranging from live singers to banjo players. Past talents include New York City’s Ms. Fire Island, Sable Scities, and Portland queer royalty Empress Fiona Flash Foxx and Emperor Scotty Boxx. The Queens have been playing to a packed house so dinner reservations are highly recommended. March 27 (last Sunday o f the month), dinner at 5:30 p.m., show at 6:45 p.m.; Starky’s, 2913 SE Stark St.; no cover hut donations o f non-perishable food items recommended; 503-230-7980for dinner reservations. — B e n n ie T an The Heart Can Bear It All.
