The social group is designed to help and promote the Latino LGBTQ_ community in a culturally appropriate environment through education, personal health, support services, cultural integration, advocacy and community building in Oregon and South west Washington. W ith weekly meetings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. every Friday at Educate Ya (200 NE 20th Ave., Ste. 10), SOM OS aims to provide a balance be tween the social and educational goals that have made the group successful thus far. “Our meetings are very dynamic and are focused on building and fostering a sense o f community among Latino LG - BTQJindividuals],”explains SOM OS co chair and co-founder Cesar Pecori. “We balance all our events by providing weekly scheduled social events, such us Movie Night, Game Night and Party Night.” Meetings also include educational pro grams like “Voices 6c Ideas,” a workshop discussion on issues affecting the Latino LGBTQ_community. “People attending these meetings have been responding very positively,” says Pecori. “One o f the most positive out- Portland to play everything from old-time gems (Life.
