are warm, and the men are shirtless.
Especially at the beach, where Marc and
I spent the long Fourth of July weekend
at the oceanfront cabin of our good
friend Brian Wilson (the other Beach Boy). Joining
us were Portland City Commissioner Sam Adams;
opera singer Carl Halvorson, who’s moving into
a condominium at the Benson Hotel; and Portland
Center Stage artistic director Chris Coleman, who
regaled us with hysterical tales of growing up in the
Deep South. The adorable Ramesh Manickam
joined us and cooked a fantastic Indian feast.
While Brian’s house is the perfect coastal
retreat, Eric Schnell and Judge Kemp moved into
a 1,900-square-foot urban retreat, beautifully
designed by Eric and featured in the pages of The
Oregonian. To celebrate, they invited a group of
homos into their home, including Fred Ross, who
told me that his long-awaited driving tour of South
America begins at the end of July. The owner of
Tease Salon/Day Spa, Jamie Gleason, was there,
teasing me with his sexy looks (as always). And
Geoff Wren and David DeMoss described their
recent move into the Elliot, right across from
Portland Art Museum.

Portland Center Stage’s Cabaret this fall, directed
