ml L . M «MA , ?•** m A *- DRAWING BOARD I loved the parade. There was so much positive energy there and at the festival. I do agree that there were too many dogs, and it would have been great if there was a dance area! Can just imagine all those people getting their groove on? Also would have been good to have more seating, too. —Karen 1 marched in the parade the last two years, and I have to say that this year was better than 2006. However, there seemed to be little organization when it came to registration and lineup. There were not enough volunteers to help marchers find their starting point. —Richard Loved the gay pet parade and the music. More ATMs, though, please. —PDXboy So happy to see less corporations using the event to sell us crap we don’t need or advertise their beer. The best event was the trans-family picnic at Overlook Park! Festival needs a dance floor/tent! —KT —Robert The waterfront was fun and all, but it seemed to be missing some of the hxiths that 1 haven’t seen in the last two years. It was jam-packed this year, which made maneuvering harder. The parade was perfect, not too long and more family-friendly than in past years. Very low on the perversion factor. —Chris 1 love Pride. The good: the parade, the band/ color guard, the happy people marching and watching. The bad: too crowded, lines way too long, (trying) to work with organizers, boring booths this year (same old junky rainbow crap, not enough craft and art). Pride needs more focus. What are we doing? And why? Is it just a big party? —Chris I just moved home to Portland after living and entertaining in Las Vegas for 11 years. I was so pleased to be involved in the parade and events. (I am in the cast at Darcelle XV & Company.) I was disappointed that there was not more shop ping and totally agree that there should be a dance tent. I loved the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus per formance and was moved by the response given to Darcelle and her cast. Of course, walking around in high heels is not the easiest; however, 1 enjoyed myself and felt so welcomed by the community. 1 am happy to be home. Thanks, Portland! By the way, I think this thing is about fun for everyone, so lighten up about the dogs and smoking. Cheers! —Marcy Kraft 1 thought most of the parade/festival was great, but 1 felt as though the bi community was lacking in representation. —Wendy 1 loved the music, loved the energy at the parade (although I found it a little boring—as 1 do with all parades). 1 hope maybe someday Pride can change off of Father’s Day. —Hannah What a great turnout! What a diverse and beautiful community! How nice to be able to get together and see each other! Enlarge the space? Post guidelines for pet owners? Have a smoking area? An alcohol area? A dance floor? To all of the people who made the event happen: Thank you. Where do we sign up to help next year and to create solutions for these problems? —Chris © To volunteer for P ortland P ride 2008 visit www.lmdeniv.org.
