Pride parties bring the fun
by Jim Radosta
Gaycation, an irregularly scheduled queer night
at Holocene, kicks off Pride Weekend 9 p.m.
June 15 at 1001 S.E. Morrison St. with special guest
DJs “MEN,” aka JD Samson and Joanna Fateman of
Le Tigre. Cover is $8.
“We’re super excited to get to do another
Gaycation for Pride,” says resident DJ Mr Charming,
aka Mary McAllister, who will also be spinning along
with DJ Snowtiger, aka Aubree Bernier Clark. “It just
seemed like last year there was a huge lack of things
for people to do that didn’t cost 15 bucks at the door,
so we’re psyched to be able to have special guest DJs
and the two of us. Should be a fun, fun time.”
Hot Flash, which normally caters to “seasoned
lesbians” 36 and older, invites women of all ages to
celebrate after the Dyke March by attending the
Retro Hot Hash Tea Dance from 5 to 9 p.m. June 16
at Barracuda, 9 N.W. Second Ave. Cover is $8.
The event will feature go-go dancers, door
prizes and fabulous surprises. For more information
visit www.hotflashdances.com.
Hot Flash’s sexy, fabulous monthly party for
younger queer girls, Gimlets n’ Garters Cocktail
Speakeasy, will wrap up its first season from 6 to
IO p.m. June 15 at Fez Ballroom, 316 S.W. 11th
Ave. Cover is $8.
The event will feature showgirls, exotic dancers
and one free drink. GnG will return in September.
Pauline Miriam, Hot Flash Dance producer,
looks forward to another year of service to the
“seasoned lesbian” community. “My greatest pride,"
she says, “is having created a venue which serves
four decades of lesbians and brings together women
of totally diverse backgrounds. Hot Flash is much
more than a dance; it is a vehicle which has
brought women out of isolation and into a friendly,

the third annual Pride Block Party.
Girl4Girl Productions, which has been hosting
Seattle’s largest all-women’s events since 1998,
invaded Portland with a huge launch party May 12.
Next up is “All Women’s Pride" 9 p.m. June 16
at Wonder Ballroom, 128 N.E. Russell St. Cover is
$15 at the door or $12 in advance from

The event will feature a live performance by
God-des &. She of The L Word fame along with
“groovin’, giveaways and go-gos galore,” including
a “j’lamorama girly show...wearin’ pasties with
pride!” Girl4Girl always provides free neon
bracelets for single ladies.
“Men are limited per event and pay a higher cov
er and must be accompanied by a woman,” notes
Girl4Girl owner Chris Chappon. “This rule has been
our staple and is one of the many reasons why the
