The public invited to a going-away party with a free buffet from 4 to 8 p.m. at 2913 S.E. Lytsell says it has maintained a steady customer base because of its friendly, familiar atmosphere. “People want to go to a place.. .where they can see their friends," the 34-year-oid told Just Out. Lytsell has worked at the restaurant for 10 years. He will stay on under the new management. Smith and Archuleta sold the business to their friends Jex? Waldroff and Greg Simshaw. Among the statistics marking the project’s two-year anniversary: • All of the nation’s top 25 media markets, 48 of the top 50 and 87 of the top 100 are home to at least one newspaper with an inclusive announcements policy. • An estimated one-half of all newspaper readers read a paper that accepts same-sex union announcements. • 49 of 50 states have at least one inclusive newspaper. Only the state of Mississippi does not. • 74 percent of the newspapers that accept same-sex union announcements are in states with laws banning same-sex marriage. • The New York Times, with a circulation of approximately 1.7 million, is the largest news paper in the nation that prints same-sex union announcements.
