Welcomes YOU!
August 16, 2002
all of you. Without you we would have a very difficult
time hosting this event.
Participants of the 26th annual Gay Softball
World Series and members of the Portland gay
community:
My hope is that from opening ceremonies to the
crowning of our champions in six divisions, you will
enjoy the moment and have a blast. I am hopeful these
days will leave you full of fond memories of new
friends, great events and lots of great softball.
W OW ! It’s here!!! You athletes have made it
to a very special event, and all of us locals
have a great week of fun and softball ahead.
As the director of Series 2002, I am excited
and greatly honored to welcome each and
every player, coach and spectator to Portland. I
47
hope that you enjoy your stay and that as the champi
onships are decided, you will have a great World Series
experience to take home with you.
It is a great privilege and it is with great pride
and excitement that we, the Rose City Softball

There are so many people to thank for all the hard work and ded
ication it takes to put on the kind of world-class event you will
see here in Portland. First I want to thank the Series 2002 Com
mittee for all their hours of blood, sweat and tears to make this
event a great one: Tim Bias, Heath Britt, Lloyd Perry, Sarah
Swanson,. Chris Potts, Noelle Buckley, Jae Larsen, Mike
Audette, James Williamson, Don Goodlin, Lisa Parlsow, Toni
Carr, Randy Wampler and Aaron Homstein. These individ
uals have done an INCREDIBLE job. If you see them during
the week, give them a pat on the back!
Next I wanted to thank all of our sponsors for supporting
every fabulous event we have planned for the week. I
also would like to thank all of the 175 volunteers who
have signed up to help run this event. My hat is off to

I would be remiss if I did not remind us that this event will ben
efit three local selected charities: Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation, Our House of Portland and Esther’s Pantry. Let’s sup
port them well and enjoy all that Portland has to offer.
I wish all of you the best of luck as you compete for the champi
onship of our 26th annual N AG A A A Softball World Series.
Let’s play ball!
