VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Description: Cascade AIDS Project (CAP),
the leading HIV prevention, housing, advoca­
cy and services organization in Oregon and
Southwest Washington, seeks an experi­
enced, seasoned and successful Volunteer
Coordinator to develop, manage, evaluate
and strengthen the volunteer system through
which 800 youth and adults volunteer over
33,500 hours valued at over $600,000 annu­
ally in the agency’s twenty-plus programs
through its Portland, Hillsboro and Vancouver,
Washington offices.
Responsibilities: CAP’S Volunteer
Coordinator functions as the lead staff posi­
tion for development, implementation, evalua­
tion, consultation and analysis of the agency’s
large, multi-faceted volunteer system, includ­
ing: recruitment, orientation, training and
placement: development and maintenance of
database and tracking mechanisms; develop­
ment of agency-wide policies and procedures:
facilitation of and consultation to staff volun­
teer management team; evaluation of sys­
tems for effectiveness and efficiency; imple­
mentation and analysis of annual evaluation
plan; development of mechanisms for recog­
nition and retention; promotion of volunteer
opportunities across the Portland metro area;
maximization of area volunteer resources;
and collaboration with related organizations.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in related
field; demonstrated professional volunteer
management success in comparably large,
complex program; program planning, budg­
eting and evaluation experience; excellent
verbal and written communication skills;
strong interpersonal and public speaking
skills; proficiency in MS Office products,
including database management.
Compensation: Up to $34,000, depending
on experience, skills and education; employ­
er-paid health, dental, long-term disability
and life insurance; 403(b) tax-deferred annu­
ity; option of flex-time schedule.

The Oregon Department of Human
Services, Oregon Health Division, Center
for Disease Prevention and Epidemiology
is recruiting for a permanent, full-time posi­
tion, located in Portland, to coordinate
community-based HIV/STD prevention ser­
vices to men who have sex with men
(MSM) through community-based organi­
zations (CBOs). This position serves as
the primary liaison between the CBOs,
local health departments, and other orga­
nizations working with MSM and other
populations at risk for HIV/STDs. Frequent
in-state travel and some evening and
weekend work may be associated with this
position. Bachelor’s degree in Health or
Education field and three years of public
health and disease prevention experience
at the local, state, or national level; or a
Master’s degree in Health or Education
field and one year of public health related
experience required. Experience designing
HIV prevention programs for rural MSM
and MSM of color higly desired. Salary is
$2,729 to $3,794 a month.
