The ruling also prohibits private employers from discriminating on the basis of sexual ori entation in hiring, firing and pay. © Basic Rights Oregon coordinates Ore gon’s participation in Equality Begins at Home, a nationwide campaign held in March that fea tures an array of activities to promote gay, les bian, bisexual and trans equality. © Scott Meisner, Eugene’s first openly gay councilor, becomes president of the City Coun cil.
