Recycled Sketch Pads 30% Off during A rt Media regular price February Scott Capurro Howie Baggadonutz will present a fabulous evening of gay and lesbian comedy featuring San Francisco’s twisted and hilarious Scott C a p u rro and Portland’s own radical lesbian stand-up comic, the very very dangerous Carol Steinel. Capurro appeared in Portland last September as part of the All-Out Comedy show, and was an instant hit. He was recently declared “the break through gay com ic.. .the First gay comic to break nationally” by the San Francisco Chronicle. Capurro could stay in the closet, pass for straight, and gamer the success to which a heterosexual comic is privileged— why docsn ’t he? Why docs he put himself at the mercy of a potentially offended and, at times, violent audience? Why docs he explosively reveal his past and present neuroses and obsessions in every joke and story he tells? Capurro approaches these questions and more with the same honesty and hilarious self-exploration that has become his trademark. Steinel is no stranger to Oregon audiences, having appeared in Homo-Genized as well as her one-woman shows Tacit Agreements and Losing Your Mind with Grace and Aplomb plus her regular stand-up comedy and music appearances. She may be Lon Mabon’s worst nightmare, but Steinel will have you in stitches. The two will appear one night only: Saturday, Jan. 29 at 8 pm at Echo Theatre (1515 SE 37th SM457 / SM443 Look what's going on at Art Media in February 5 - Saturday Reception for O regon W o m e n 's Caucus for A rt D O a rt Gallery {Beaverton location} I-3pm 6 - Sunday Deadline for Valentine Contest Entries 9 - Wednesday Free Dem o Beaverton 2-5pm F IM O Pins with Valentine theme 12 , 13 , 14 - Free Dem o Downtown & Beaverton l2-5pm Hands-on Valentine Card Making 26 -Saturday Free Dem o Downtown I -4pm Origami Boxes Garnet McClit the Lady Dick J i I , , \ » , . 4 * ; . s- J, » \ ^ i r , i» • ♦ s ,1 » , » * 1 ! » IV » £ * Downtown Portland: 902 SW Yamhill 223.3724 Beaverton: 2710 Cedar Hills Blvd. 646.9347 S t o r e H o u r s : M onday-Saturday 9:00-6:30.
