O
n M arch 28, RATS attended hearings of
the State Health Insurance and Bio-Ethics
C om m ittee in Salem , and lobbied state
senators in support of Senate Bill (SB) 790 and
against SB 29.
SB 790 insures adequate health care for all
Oregonians. SB 29 rations out health care based
on a prioritized list. AIDS is near the bottom of
that list, virtually eliminating any state funding
for AIDS treatment.
RATS contacted Gov.Barbara Roberts and 15
state senators (including members of the Health
Insurance C om m ittee, the leadership of both
parties, and all senators from the Portland area)
to urge them to support SB 790 and reject SB 29.
Call Senator Frank Roberts (378-8803)to
encourage him in continuing his support of SB
790 and rejection of SB 29.
