The Publishing Triangle, the Ferro-
Grumely Foundation, and Vl'ords Project
for AIDS will present cash and honorary
awards for lifetime achievement,
contemporary ficiton, and AIDS-related
writing, respectively.
The Publishing Triangle will present the
Second Annual Whitehead Awards to a
female recipient for lifetime achievement in
the furtherance of gay and lesbian literature.
Edmond White was their recipient last year.
In honor and memory of authors and
lovers Robert Ferro and Michael Grumley, the
Ferro-G rum ley A w ards consist of two cash
prizes — one for an outstanding work of
fiction on lesbian life published in 1989 by an
American author, and the other for an
outstanding work of fiction on gay male life
published in 1989 by an American author.
The board of trustees o f the Ferro-Grumley
Foundation will name recipients based on
recommendations received by a Nominations
Committee. Words Project for AIDS will also
present two awards — one for an outstanding
work addressing AIDS as it affects the
individual, and one for an outstanding work
addressing the effects of AIDS on society.
This is the second year that Words Project for
AIDS will present awards recognizing AIDS-
related writings, but the first time that the
awards will be presented at the Lambda
Literary Awards.

tion with a number of other sites across the U S. since 1975. The
staff includes physicians and other clinicians with extensive expe
rience in research. Each project is completely funded by grants.

Research subjects may receive free screening and medical care if
