The dating game: calendars to watch out for O N Lesbian Muse: The Women Behind the Words. A 1990 engagement calendar. Photographs by Tee Corinne. Edited by Sarah Koehl. Chance Publications, 1989. Black and white photos. $8.95. Tee Corinne began photographing lesbian writers in 1974. She was drawn to their words as well as to their uncloseted public stance. Lesbian Muse features a sampling of these faces, long anonymous to us, in the format of an engagement calendar. Corinne’s photos portray warmth and clarity and a view of the writer as friendly confidant rather than exalted genius. There is, however, a great deal of genius among the women pictured. Included in the calendar are Judy Grahn, Pat Parker, Becky Birtha, Sarah Schulman, Valerie Taylor, Judith Barrington, Carol Seajay, Jane Rule, Lee Lynch, Sheila Ortiz Taylor, Willyce Kim, Sabrina Sojourner, Sarah Aldridge and many others. r U espresso ^desserts gelato light meals ^^continental breakfast MON -FR) 7 00 AM 5.00 PM/SAT SUN 8 00 AM 200 PM LOCATED O N THE CORNER OF NW 24TH and THURMAN PHONE: 243-3247 “SPECIAL SUNDAY BRUNCH” “Wild ethnic lunch specials. Photographs are a flowering of our heritage, love notes to the future saying, “This is what we looked like,” Lesbian Muse documents our existence, which is essential to our growth. The authors featured in this calendar have literally created an understanding of lesbian culture and community, and Lesbian Muse is a celebration of their bravery and honesty.
