The $5 & $10 ■ Lesbians, gays together for Pride concert Cadies Wear Nothing oler $10 Gay Men s Chorus, Lesbian Choir, David Smith, Musica Femina cap Pride Week with music. p'W'^ogether!” a community concert I of lesbian and gay pride, will feature the new Portland Lesbian Choir, the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, Musica Femina, pianist David Smith, and other musical attractions. There will be two performances, at 7 and 9:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27, in the Eastside Performance Center, S. E. 14th and Stark. The Portland Lesbian Choir, which has about 25 singers, was formed early this year. It is conducted by Jeri Hendricks. The Choir has performed for various wo men’s events, but “ Together!” will be its First concert appearance. Both choruses will perform separately, and will join forces for a rousing finale of gay pride songs. The music will be varied and up-beat, with Broadway tunes such as “ I Got Love” and “ My Funny Valentine,” and gay anthems like “ We Are Everywhere” and “ Song of the Soul.” Musica Femina is a flute and guitar duo that has played in music festivals and at colleges and universities across the nation. The duo specializes in music by women composers; its members are Kristan Aspen, flute, and Janna 4 • s MacAuslan, guitar. David Smith, pianist, has been guest soloist with the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus on several occasions. He studied with Sergei Rachmaninoff and made his New York debut at Town Hall when he was 19 years old. Subsequently, he appeared with major orchestras through out North America. He will retire this year as professor of music at Southwest Oregon College, and has been invited to make a concert tour in the Soviet Union. “ Together!” is a production of the Portland Gay Men’s Chorus, filling a date previouly announced for its final concert of the 1986-87 season. That concert will be one of the opening events of the new Port land Center for the Performing Arts. Con struction delays have caused the opening to be postponed to the end of summer, with the PGMC concert on Saturday, Septem ber 5, in the Intermediate Theater, the new 900-seat hall. PGMC season subscribers are being notified of this change. Tickets for the community concert, “ Together!” are available from members of both choruses, at Club 927, C.C. Slaughter’s, and at the door.
