In the world I work and long for W o m en do not get wounded F o r being wom en. A nd m en do not fight wars F o r being m en. C o lor does not clash with color. Every color is beautiful, necessary In its relation to every other. D re a m on, scoff the cynics, dream on. In the world I am in now I a m one infinitesimal speck of life, A lesbian w om an dream er advocate life W h o believes it possible F o r this world to be m ore and m ore T h e one I work and long for. And in the dream world T h e re is never too m uch loving between wom en. T h e re is never too m uch loving between men. A nd wrong ways of touching Are intim ately discovered And intim ately changed In care for the person touched. T h e hand of the law does not seize or strike M e or anyone, for who we love. H o m o phobes em brace lesbians. Fag-baiters, fag-bashers reach out to gay m en As people. Secretary All I ever wanted was At a very early age I was aware of being gay. It was very difficult to be open about m y sexual preference living on an Indian reservation and being proud of m y Paiute heritage. Now that I am out, I hope to be a positive role m odel for young Gay Am erican youths. — Randy T. Bums. Secretary W e are a Papa, a Daddy and a son. Growing is part of our daily routine. It's hard work being a fam ily with com m itm ents to raising ourselves. Parenting is full of joys and pains — sharing and caring — teaching and learning — cries and laughter. All of this m akes us proud o f the fam ily we are. B eing a radical lesbian fem inist when I first cam e out provided m e with a foundation from then on for understanding the world and its forces in political terms. Political consciousness and organizing skill are things they can never take away. As long as our brains are intact, we will have the skill to view what's going on around us; we ll know how to think and assess and organize.
