he grows up to be an orator

people. Silver tongues are
no longer in great demand,
except in districts where
men sleep in their under­
wear.
Sharp tongues are peculiar
to the female of the species,
in Puritan days the possessor
of a sharp tongue w as called
a common scold and wasi
ducked in a pond. Now,;
however, tongues of this
type are no longer monopo­
lized by the feminine sex,
and males who possess them
are called reformers and
young intellectuals. If they
are reformers they cuss
everybobv who disagrees
with them, and if they are
young intellectuals they cuss
America.
When the loose end of a
tongue is not w orking it rests
against the roof of the
mouth. In New England
the tongue occupies this
position the greater part of
the time, but even a New
England tongue will leave
its parking place and rattle
with great enthusiasm when
tha owner surrounds about
three fingers of patent medi­
cine. Attending a meeting
of the sewing circle has a
similar effect.
Ox tongue is a delicacy
greatly enjoyed by some
individuals. It is not expen-
sive, and if eaten with ox­
tail soup it enables one to
