Several counties in this state are preparing to raise dog licenses to $5 per year for males and $10 for :> females—in order to prevent the towns from entirely “go ing to the dogs.” Jackson county could spare a few hundreds—or thousands—of them without setting the country back to any great extent. A man named Connally, of 'Thompson creek, was ar rested here several days ago, for peddling meat without a license. Our town charter makes it lawful for anyone to sell anything _ _ in town if raised or grown by them selves, but if acting as sales- man for someone else, on a commission, they must pay a license. Connally being a poor man and ignorant of this law, Justice Roe very properly imposed a small fine and remitted it. Notice of Sheriff’s Sale.
