Official Paper of the City of Jacksonville Oregon
the opportunity it offers to warn Medford that continued
toleration of such utterances is not conducive to good
feeling between the two towns. The assertion that some
of our citizens accumulate riches at the expense of the
taxpayer is as false as it is ridiculous. And, speaking
of the court house and its environments, it may not be
amiss to remind our esteemed contemp. that “in the same
yard with the old building” there is a commodious
padded cell maintained for the accommodation of people
addicted to the habit of “raving.” In one paragraph
Jacksonville is described as a rather unusual creature that
will settle down in the shadow of its own ruins, fold its
wings and swat Hies—manifestly an impossible feat for
an ordinary biped to perform. However, the fly-swat
ting problem should present no difficulty to the editor
of the Medford paper. Classifying him by his bray, he
should be able to settle down any old place, fold all
four legs and swat flies with his ears.
