Bryant Hamilton of Ruch was a recent visitor in this city. Miss Myrtle Pitz and Miss Ellen Hartman were visitors in Medford Sun day. Wanted —A used typewriter. Must be in good condition. Inquire at this office. Charles Abbot of Medford was visit ing old friends in town Wednesday afternoon. Several members of the Elks lodo'e attended the smoker at Medford Thurs day evening. Judge Gardner and Commissioner Owens have been in Portland and Salem on official business. The stage between Ashland and Klamath Falls has been discontinued on account of bad roads. Mrs. Rose Singler, Mrs. Ella Walsh and Miss Alta Walsh of Medford were in town Tuesday evening. Miss Stella Anderson of Medford spent Sunday at the home of Mrs. Mattie Thompson in this city. The Medford and Grants Pass high schools will tangle on the foot ball field at Grants Pass this afternoon. Several herds of beef cattle have been driven through town this week, on their way to Medford for shipment. The local camp ot Royal Neighbors held an interesting session at the home of Mrs. W. I. McIntyre Tuedsay even ing. Several Jacksonville young people attended the “Watch Your Step’’ per formance at Medford. Wednesday night. G. W. Wendt, Daniel Bagshaw and Reuben Pitz attended the session of the American Legion at Medford Tues day night. The Portland Chamber of Commerce has petitioned the S, P. Co. to grant excursion round trip fares to Southern Oregon. The football team from Grants Pass highschool defeated the Medford high school huskies last Saturday by a score of 20-0. Jasten Hartman, the local bridge builder, has been awarded the contract for tne repairing of the bridge across Rogue River at Ray Gold. W. Bagshaw for a few days, left yesterday morning for a visit with relatives in the upper Applegate valley. Next Tuesday, being Armistice Day, has been proclaimed a legal holiday. The American Legion plans to hold a big celebration in Medford. Brush up y jur uniform and fall in. The sheriff’s office has not yet given up the hunt for the man and woman who held up the jitney driver at this place. Sheriff Terrill has new strings out and sooner or later expects to haul them in. It seems as though we too are in the wave of crime. Nume rous thefts have been reported lately; many families re porting chickens, canned fruit and other edible articles missing. The authorities are at a loss as to who is dcing the mischief.
