Smoke trom the crater drifte 1 northward about 30 miles. The rumblings preceding the eruption were loud and distinct. Recall Carried In Baker County Baker, Or., June 6.—That recall of County Judge J. B. Messick and County Commissioner J. P. Ritter was successful, and that William Duby has been elected judge, and Judge John Fraser, named commissioner, is admitted by the Messick and Ritter supporters. It is expected that the final returns will show the recall to have carried by about 80 votes, it having a lead of 40 votes at noon on incomplete returns from 39 out of 41 precincts in the county.
