The tax levy for 1914,'will bd considerably under that
of 1913, according to the proposed levy published by the
county court and no doubt plenty of people will think it
might be still lower. The proposed levy includes money
to be raised for all county expenses, including the sum of
$56,640 for redemption of outstanding warrants and $100,
000. for state tax, is placed at 14 mills. The tax for city
purposes levied by the council is 15 mills and the school
levy is 6 mill, making a total of 35 mills to be levied on
each dollar of the assessed valuation of property within
the city of Jacksonville. Last year the levy was 43
mills.
