Fruit Men Plan Reservoir.
Ashland, Ore., Oct. 15. —Messrs.
Coachman and Hunter, who own a
fruit ranch in the mountains just back
of the Ashland normal, are putting in
an extensive irrigation system,
They
have run a ditch from near the head*
waters of Ashland creek to a point
near the mill of the Lamb mine, From
a penstock highup on the mountain
they have run a large pipe down to
the gulch and intend to use it this
winter when water is plentiful to sluice
out dirt to make a dam acroaB the
gulch, forming a reservoir. This res­
ervoir will hold 10,000,000 gallons, and
by using the surplus water of the creek
in winter and spring they expect to
store enough to water a good seized
tract during the dry season.
