It is stated that the engineer who drew the plans and made the surveys assured the members of the council that the supply of water which could be ob tained iron Jackson creek was sufficient for a town of 2500 people, and-if this statement is correct there would seem to be no need of any hesitation in regard to sufficien cy of water for present needs and for some time to come. On the other hand, if artesian water could be secured in sufficient volume and at reasonable cost, it would be much better for domestic purposes, but it is a question whether the council would be justified in experimenting in the matter without some definite information regarding the geological formation and topography of the country. Let us have water of some kind and as soon as possible. If it is not first quality for domestic use it will at least do to sprinkle the lawns and extinguish fires and for these uses alone will be worth all it will cost.
