PRICES RIGHT. Fred J. Fick, The live stock market at Portland for the month of March has been a pleasing- one, both in prices and receipts. As compared with March last year, there was an increase of 3607 cattle, 1103 sheep and 382 hogs. In the face of the 1 great shortage prevailing ail over the country, this a splendid showing for the Portland market. All previous records for prices were broken, not alone in ¡ individual instances of small sales, but in the higher general average prevail ing for all classes of live stock. Cattle sold high, sheep and iambs brought big prices, and the hog rocket that went r up in February has shown no sign of a falling stick.
