He regards the work done there as the most important of his life. rd' During that time the institution was steadily advanced until it occupies first place among the normal schools of the state. In this capacity his work edu cationally and with the people at large and with legislation told at every step. Mr. Mulkey is tobe congratulated upon the fact that he left with the good will vf the entire student body of the normal school and of the people of Ashland, with whom he had labored so long and unselfishly. At the solicitation of a large number of Republicans and after considerable delay he has become a candidate for Dis trict Attorney for the First Judicial , District, subject to the action of the j Republican primaries next month. If he , is elected to that position his reputation for ability and integrity in every enter- < prise with which he has heretofore been entrusted guarantees faithful service in [ this field of his ambition.
