AURORA.
The city election on the 14th reunited

Mrs. 0. A Dock, aged 2(1 your, died
very suddenly Thursday. She was re
covering; (roui. childbirth and was taken
willi heart fuilura. Mrs. Bock was a iiii

esteem by nil. Mr. Bock in left with two
small children, lie had the sympathy

turned from Portland hist aweek, and
when Aurora was reached the cmi verna
tion was bo interesting that the gentle
men did not hear the name of the town

reached. By this time the theme under
discussion was lacking In interest and

spiration out on the boys for they re
alized that a long walk was ahead of

A large delegation of our prominent
citizens visited Oregon City on Thursday

man, Htnry Kraus and B. W. Zimmer
man. John P. Cole made a four-fuot hole in
Pudding river Thursday. He says Hie
weather is a liltlo cold yet for bathing.
Rudolph Gicsy, one of the oldest and
most respected citizens, is suffering from
an attack of typhoid fever.
II. C. Fhlen has organ.zed a brass
band with 15 instruments. The mem
bers are all experienced and a few re
heartols will give Aurora a fine hand.
Miss Joelinko will deliver a lecture
here on "Hawaii" in a short lime. The
date and particulars will be given later.
Miss Ida (iicsy, who is attending the
Portland High school, was home last
week for a short visit. Slio is well
pleased with the school.
II. A. Snyder has purchased the con
fectionery store from II. Gerwig.
II. Gerwig has taken control of the
new Aurora hotel.
Hops are on the up-grade again and
hopmen feel encouraged.
Miss Priecilla Bees, is visiting her
Bister Mrs. J. W. Welch at Astoria,

clear the tract of brush. The cemetery
will be a public one, hut under control
of the local lodge of Odd Fellows.
The Odd Follows have recently pur
chased a threo-acre tract from Miko
Buchart for a cemetery plat. A meet
W. S. Hurst is doing a large busini
in produce, hay and potatoes. Prices
are good and the farmers are happy.
Major II. I,, Bees, of Portland, re
eently appointed paymaster in the regu
lar army, was visiting his parents last
week. He received the congrat illations
of numerous friends on his appointment,
Antone Will is erecting a residence on
Liherly and Third streets, which prom
ises to eclipse everything in the city,
The brick foundation and fiauie work are
completed. The location is sightly and
central. Invitations are not out yet,

J.atkk liudolph Giesy, aged 80 years
died Monday afternoon.
Mr. (iiesy was one of a family of ten
brothers and three Bisters. Four
brothers and one sis'er survive. He
was a single man and for many years
made his home with his brother, Jacob
Giesy, proprietor of the Aurora hotel
He was of a genial, kindly nature, well'
liked by all.
MOLALLA.
Miss Diana Baty has been visiting in
the Teasel Creek neighborhood during
the past week.
There was quite a fair sized crowd at
the magic lantern show and lecture. The
lecture was above the average giyen by
these shows.
A brother of Teddy Hammond, of III'
diana, is visiting him. "Teddy" as lie
is familiarly known here, is a great en
thusiast along the line of farmers' clubs.

Friday night. Molalla is a great plac
for social gatherings of this kind which
are usually pronounced a success.
Dudley Boyles left Saturday for Waits
burg, Wash., where he will stay for the
summer at least. Dudley is quite a fa
vorite and will be missed bv the young
folks.
Mrs. Todd, who has been on the sick
list for some time, is slowly recovering,

The bright days ol spring finds our
section in a prosperous condition. Sev
eral new settlers have moved in and
many improvements are being made.
D. B. Deakins has been slashing, fenc
ing and generally improving his place.
A five-acre tract of the Riverside ad'
lition has been sold to Mr. Woodmanae,
of Kansas, who has taken poiessiou.
C. F. Street ban returned from Culi-
fornia and is improving his place. A
large tract has been slashed, a fine, large
windmill has been erected, new fences
put up and a first class green house
erected.

meeting held at the Orange hail, Mulino,
on March llitli. the old road committee
was discharged and new one appointed.
As a matter of fact that meeting
was not called by the road committee.
and the road committee was not appoint
ed by anyone taking part in that meet
ing, neither did anyone taking part in
that meeting contribute anything toward
the survey of the Molalla road except F.

we were not epiiointed a committee
on that route. We shall continue to
act, however, as the Mulino committee
on the Molalla road as instructed by
