Tre Easter baiaar and food sale given by the Baptist ladies will be held in the store building formerly occupied by Drexler and Alexander. Many pretty and useful articles will be offered for sale. The Independence band made its first official public appearance last night by giving a concert at the Isis. All the numbers were splendid and very much enjoyed by the live hundred present. $25 was added to the band treasury. Dr. Turner, formerly of Lowe & Turner, the well-known eye specialists of Portland, will be at the Hotel Beaver again Thurs day. April 19th. The city council at its regular meeting Wednesday night allow ed a few bills and adjourned. N. S. GiKespie and Frank Miller are considered part of the fixtures of the Elliott-O'Brien store and will be shipped to Chehalis, Wash. The Dallas student body pre sented " er 0' My Heart" to a fair sized crowd at the Indepen dence orera house Saturday night. Those attending highly praised the work of the young people. The orchestra also met with much favor. According to the church an nouncements, Ea?ter will be observed in all the places of worship with seasonable music and sermons. Twenty-eight responded to the first call but an enrollment of over one hundred is expected. Another meeting will be held soon to form the permanent organization. W. M. Huff had a birthday Monday and during the evening a number of bucks came in and an old time revival was held. It was a genuine stag party, no ladies being permitted to be Dresent except Mrs. Huff who furnished the refreshments. It proved a delightful affair. Monmouth Herald; Five Hundred was the attraction at a pleasant little party given by Miss Myra Butler at her home Wednesday evening. Some twenty people were present, in cluding a group Independence. Mrs. Macy was winner of the first prize and Mrs. Duganne of Independence was awarded the booby prize. FINAL SALE The Elliott-O'Brien store will be moved to Chehalis, Wash. A final sale commencing tomorrow will be continued a week after which the doors will be closed and the rema ning stock packed for shipping. Independence will lose a good store and a good business man. KILLED BY AUTO 11. P. Dickinson of Independ ence was killed in an automobile accident at San Diego, Cal., last Thursday night. He was ad justing the lights on hia car when another automobile run into him. Mrs. Dickinson was in Ijoa Angeles and did not learn of the fatality for several hours. Mr, Dickinson was in San Dieo with a string of race horses of whieh he was the owner, The remains were brought to Independence on Tuesday of this week and the funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in the afternoon.
